Stray Dog Beaten in Mumbai Market Area

In a disturbing incident reported from Dadar Market in Mumbai, a street dog was brutally beaten by a shopkeeper on December 26th. Multiple witnesses captured the incident on video, showing the shopkeeper repeatedly hitting the dog with a stick.

Local animal welfare activists arrived at the scene within hours and rescued the injured dog, who is now receiving treatment at a veterinary clinic. The dog suffered multiple injuries including a fractured leg and severe bruising.

“This is absolutely unacceptable,” said Priya Sharma, an animal rights activist who responded to the incident. “We have filed an FIR under Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and are demanding immediate arrest.”

The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with thousands calling for justice. Animal welfare organizations are urging the Mumbai Police to take swift action and set a strong precedent against animal cruelty.

The shopkeeper claims the dog was creating a disturbance, but activists argue that violence is never justified and proper authorities should have been contacted instead.
